HIPAA Authorization

HIPAA is the "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act", which protects personal health information privacy.

Without a HIPAA Authorization, health care providers will not be able to share any information regarding our condition to our loved one or any other specified individual.

This can be imporant if we are incapacitated and need our trusted designated person to be able to efficiently acquire our medical records from different health-care systems, different hospitals, and/or different doctors.

We all know how hard it can be to get the medical records of even our closest loved ones due to the HIPAA laws that were enacted in the mid-90's.

I'm a big believer in privacy so, while I appreciate the motive of the legislation, I also appreciate having a tool that we can use that gives our loved ones access to our medical records if we're unable to grant permission because of an unforeseen tragedy or medical event.

A HIPAA Authorization is a tool that can accomplish that for us.
